Who IS this woman, anyhow?

Liberating people from toxic BS systems is my jam.

Ever since I was union rep on a TV production in 1995, and went into battle for the child actors to get their proper lunch breaks, I’ve helped thousands of people.

I did it first as a union organiser for actors and, later, academics.

And since 2011, I’ve done it with hundreds of coaching clients.

My two coaching qualifications included three core years of training all up, plus various adjunct training in positive psychiatry, psychological first aid, trauma, identity shifting, emotional intelligence, astrology, chaos magic and diversity, equity and inclusivity.

With 20 years as a professional performer, a decade in progressive politics and union work, and growing up the daughter of a country doctor - it’s easy for me to work with clients from all walks of life.

I’m fiercely passionate about freeing women from those old toxic systems in our heads, so we can all wreak more joy in the world and fulfil our true purpose.

    Puppeteering

Here I am, operating a puppet character called Maria, from an obscure kids’ TV show called The Maestro’s Company. She was the soprano of a strange little opera company, and while I provided her speaking voice, her singing was done by various artists from the Decca label. I can still do perfect lip-sync for the “Queen of the Night’s aria” from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. 😏

    A Not-So-Green Thumb

The truth is, real indoor plants and I don’t get on well. I can just manage to keep a peace lily alive, but all the plants in my office - which you’ll see in my Zoom background if we connect that way - are LEGO. I love the therapeutic ‘click’ of the pieces connecting; I love the design and the engineering; and I love being able to say “thank you, actually they’re not real” when people compliment my plants. 🤪

    Sci-Fi Tragic?

I saw the first ever Dr Who episode when it went to air, and I’ve been watching ever since.

I love good SF for the way it explores and opens up possibilities, especially in literature (and I like to write it, too). I share a birth date with the great Ursula Le Guin (Oct 21) and that pleases me tremendously.

What I believe

I believe you came to planet Earth with a unique human life to express; and I believe that without that expression the Universe has a You-shaped hole in it.

I believe the systems in which we were raised are toxic and harmful, and they have installed habits of sabotage in your head (in all our heads!)

I believe that’s not your fault - but it is your responsibility (and your opportunity!) to reprogram your brain

I know that brains are superbly designed for rapid change, when you have the right tools pointed at the right problem; and I believe that magic adds a whole new dimension of ease and support to the change process

I believe all our human emotions have value, not just the shiny-happy ones.

I believe you are radiantly beautiful, no matter what your body looks like or feels like on any given day.

I believe you came here to make a difference, to live well, and to make your own heart sing.

And I believe in good coaching

Good coaching isn't about getting the fastest results at the expense of your wellbeing. It's about growth and expansion undertaken with superb support for good mental health, because that creates growth which is sustainable, long-term, and filled to the brim with joy.

Good coaching isn't merely about the essential breakthroughs and epiphanies. It's about supporting the rewiring of the brain so those new concepts become a foundation of reliable, default perspectives - and that takes a little time and effort.

Your human brain is a miraculous, creative, inventive, change-embracing, problem-solving machine - and it loves you. Any time it's behaving like an arsehole, it's because it mistakenly thinks it is keeping you safe.

You are not the victim of your brain; you are its owner-operator. And you get to curate that relationship on your terms, for the sake of your own joy.

You are full of superpowers and gifts, just waiting for full expression.

You might feel like Sleeping Beauty in her tower right now, but you're also the Prince on his noble steed, slicing through the thorns with that sword, to set you free.

I believe the best coaching experiences feel like girlfriends on the couch at 2am, splitting a bottle of red or a spicy hot chocolate. That means in my world, you show up just as you are, let your hair down, feet up on the coffee table, yoga pants or PJs and bare feet or slippers, in all your gloriously messy humanness. And so do I.
